ABOUT US

MixHaus Gallery exhibits work of contemporary Texas artists that is, first and foremost, exceptional in its approach and execution. We are carefully assembling a diverse and eclectic offering of visual artists whose work combines methods, materials, concepts, and subjects that challenge traditional boundaries and approaches.

We offer a collaborative form of representation. Our focus is on cultivating relationships with a strong, diverse base of primarily Texas artists who are committed to their own success as well as the success of our gallery community. We work on a standard 50% commission rate for artists whose work we show in our physical and online galleries, and we invite artists proposals for workshops, demonstrations, retreats, excursions, and other enriching events in our mixed-use space, collaboratively with Hotel Giles across the street, as well as locations beyond Comfort.

ABOUT YOU

At a minimum, we ask that you meet the following basic requirements:

• Demonstrate a cohesive body or bodies of work spanning a minimum of 5 years
• Commitment to working consistently to reliably produce new work
• Work in mixed media, multiple media, push beyond the expected boundaries of your chosen medium, or work conceptually in ways that engage the senses, emotions, and intellect
• Convey something distinctive and singular in your work
• Demonstrate exceptional quality of materials and presentation
• Conduct yourself with a high level of professionalism and organization
• Be kind, communicative and open-minded (great sense of humor is a plus)
• Optional: Offer classes, workshops, retreats, artist talks, and/or demonstrations
• Bonus points if you aren’t offended by the occasional use of swear words!

And be able to provide:

• Brief Artist Statement
• Brief Artist Bio and/or Curriculum Vitae
• High quality images of 5 to 7 current and recent works (within 2 years)
• Link to your website
• Link to your Instagram page or other social media

HOW TO SUBMIT

We welcome you to visit the gallery to meet us and get a sense of our space, artwork, presentation, and explore our community of Comfort TX. You certainly are not required to do this, but we always enjoy meeting artists of all ages, races, nationalities, genders, backgrounds, and practices. 

We are also open to appointments made in advance to meet you outside our business hours as well if your travel falls beyond those times. 

You are also welcome to send an email to introduce yourself with a link to your website and/or Instagram and let us know that you intend to submit or that you have submitted.

We do not accept walk-ins for portfolio reviews or consideration for representation. We will always be kind but firm about this, and we will point you to this page on our website. 

We kindly request that you do not walk into the gallery unannounced with your artwork or portfolio in hand or show us your work on your phone. We stay quite busy and are getting busier. Our posted business hours are dedicated to hosting visitors and collectors to support and promote our artists and exhibits. We'll happily welcome you as one of those visitors.

Documents and Images Required:

• Artist Statement (.pdf or .doc —please do not send .pages files)
• Artist Bio and/or Curriculum Vitae (.pdf or Word .doc)
• High quality images of 5 to 7 current and recent works (within 2 years). Please see "Digital Image File Requirements" outlined below.​

Digital Image File Requirements for Submissions: 

• Please name your images with your name, artwork title, and dimensions at a minimum! Naming examples:

  • EHesse_Ennead_96x39x17_mixed media.jpeg  
• Do NOT send .heic files. Please convert to .jpg or .jpeg before submitting. 
• For each 2D artwork submission, provide a minimum of 1 image overall front view
• Optional: provide no more than 2 detail or alternate view images for each 2D artwork submitted
• For each 3D artwork submission, provide up to 3 views of each piece from different angles

How to Use SwissTransfer.com

Click the UPLOAD FILES button below to provide all image files and documents listed below via SwissTransfer.com. This is a free, encrypted service and does not require you to create an account. 

• Click the drop zone or drag and drop your files. You can add multiple files or entire folders—please do not submit one file at a time. The total limit is 50 GB per transfer.
• Before sending, you can customize the following options:
  • Availabilty Period—we suggest 7 days
  • In settings, you can limit the number of times it can be downloaded or leave it set as is.
  • In settings, you can require a password. We suggest not doing this, but if you do, please email us separately with the password so we can access the files. 
• Choose your sending mode: Link or Email
  • Link:  Generates a download link that you can share however you want (email, SMS, messaging, etc.) This is ideal for sharing with multiple people across multiple channels. 
  • Email:  Enter one or multiple email addresses and add a custom message if you wish. SwissTransfer sends a separate email to each recipient with the link to download your files. Note: Sometimes "Your email address" field will auto-fill. Be sure to enter the email address you want your email to come from.

Operated by the independent cloud provider Infomaniak, the platform is governed by strict Swiss data protection laws and the GDPR. Unlike some competitors, SwissTransfer does not claim or seek broad, perpetual sub-licenses to your creative intellectual property or use your files to train AI.
