Our current exhibit, "Disturbances"—featuring the work of Kari Englehardt, Nate Cassie, and Parker Duke—exemplifies everything I envisioned when I retooled MixHaus Gallery. When shaping the gallery, I imagined it as a home for collaborations—a gallery whose exhibits would serve as a "mix" of two to three artists, each bringing their unique perspectives and collaborating in various ways to uncover shared themes within their work. I wanted MixHaus to be a place for exhibits that aren’t only visually engaging but also emotionally resonant and intellectually stimulating, prompting visitors to think more deeply about the work, solutions to issues, and their inner worlds.
"Disturbances" perfectly captures this vision, mixing artists who each contribute a unique medium and approach, inviting the viewer into a multi-sensory experience that explores environmental themes in an engaging and thought-provoking way. When I invited Kari Englehardt to show, I extended my usual practice of allowing artists to help shape the exhibit by suggesting one or two others they would like to show with, offering them a degree of curatorial input. Kari proposed Nate and Parker, both artists whose work and vision aligned powerfully with her message. Together, they’ve created an exhibition that visually, emotionally, and intellectually embodies the spirit of MixHaus Gallery.
